SOS! THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP!

These are some words you may be screaming, crying, or whispering to yourself when you find yourself in class, not knowing the difference between Bare vs. Creative repetition. Look no further, I am HERE to HELP. As I like to say, You can do it! We can help!

Lets tackle this together

Ok, after discussing with my peers, and reading the text, An Ethics of Assemblage: Creative Repetition and the ‘Electric Pow Wow’” written by Arola and Arola's, we have come to the consensus that bare repetition is when things are repeated over and over again, but does not change. For example, Harry Potter, these books were adapted into movies, however, the plot stays the same. Some of my peers also describe this as a basic burger. We all know that a burger is usually, patty, bun, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. My favorite example is one of my favorite television shows, Sherlock. In this show, Benedict Cumberbatch depicts Sherlock Homes. Sherlock Holmes is easily described as a high-functioning sociopath that solves mysteries with his #2, John Watson. (See Below! Aren't they precious!)

This show, was not always a show. It began as a book series, written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Isn't it incredible that something that was written so long ago, can still be adapted to be the same!!

Let's move on to creative repetition. Again, after discussing with my peers, we decided that the general definition is when someone adds something new to the original. This provides the opportunity for artists, writers, etc. to really express their creative side to their work. Lets go back to our burger example. We have our basic idea of a burger, but what if instead of meat, cheese, bun, lettuce, tomato it is, lettuce as a bun, meat, cheese. Or what if it is a black bean burger, with goat cheese, lettuce as a bun, and no tomato? Creative repetition allows people to express themselves and try new thing. Try creative repetition yourself!

As always, thanks for listening to my words. I cannot believe we have 1.5 million subscribers to this blog. You guys are important! Don't you dare forget that!! Hope this helped you!!
